GHOSTWRITERS OF COLOR
Ghostwriting and speechwriting are sister professions, yet their industries are not as intertwined as one might think. The similarities are obvious: Both fields involve crafting words that others will deliver. While ghostwriters often work behind the scenes on books, articles, and other written content, speechwriters focus on creating compelling spoken words for leaders and public figures.
Despite these similarities, we have distinct identities and communities. Ghostwriters of color, like speechwriters of color, bring unique perspectives and voices to the table, enriching the narratives we help create. Our contributions are vital in ensuring diverse stories are told authentically.
By championing the inclusion of ghostwriters of color, we can create a more inclusive and effective storytelling landscape to build narrative power. Transitioning between speechwriting and ghostwriting can be a natural career progression. Both professions require a deep understanding of voice, tone, and audience. However, there is a need for more awareness and support for professionals looking to move between these fields.
If you’re a ghostwriter of color, Speechwriters of Color is a home for you, and we encourage you to join our membership.
